cheers, Mark.September 20, 2014 at 8:02 am #12687Awesome mark! I love your tone. You really got those Boots Randolph embellishements down, like choking those A notes….beautiful.
September 20, 2014 at 3:16 pm #12689Hey thanks Johnny! ..best backing track. I reckon you have some idea how many times you have to play this to get it anywhere near decent. 🙂
I didn’t get arrested by the to female cops that walked by during the last verse.
cheers Mark.September 20, 2014 at 7:23 pm #12690oh, do they arrest you sometimes!? I can’t believe they’d do that to a guy playing such wonderful sax.
Ya, yakety sax is one of those that when i don’t play it for a while I do need to practice it….it’s a bit of a workout but so great when you nail it.September 22, 2014 at 5:11 am #12703Hehe only kidding Johnny.
Keep up the excellent work you are doing here. Can’t wait to see more of the instrumental gems that the ‘karaoke’ sites don’t touch.
cheers, Mark.October 5, 2014 at 11:05 am #12742hi Johhny
with reference to marks embellishment on yakety sax you mention choking those A notes i have been trying at with no success do you have any pointers there? Thanks Mark for posting your version as Johnny said its totally awesome!!
thanks you guys
PaddyOctober 5, 2014 at 11:46 am #12743I haven’t really given much thought as far as teaching that technique yet.
But chocking a note is really just that, play it for a beat then suddenly choke it by stopping the air supply all of a sudden.October 13, 2014 at 2:33 pm #12776Thanks Paddy 🙂
The tongue on reed is the best way to quickly stop the note. Like everything else, start really really slow and gradually increase the tempo as you get the hang of it.
cheers, Mark.October 14, 2014 at 3:00 pm #12783thank mark i shall incorporate this into my practice kind regards paddy
