ahh, one of my old faves. used to play that one in my band years ago.
sure you can play 1 4 5 and follow the guitar…that’s what I would do.

One, four, five Sort of like “La Bamba”, or Twist and Shout progression.

yes exactly. and the other chords would be the 4, 4minor to 5. and for that I’d play the 3rd of the 4 chord, flat 3rd, down a semi tone. so if the 4 was an F you could play; A, Ab, G and this would fit perfectly over that part.

    Thanks Johnny
I’m working on “Do you love me”. I’m at the beginning: Key is F major. 5th chord introduces “”Do you ….1 4 5 back to 1 4 5 to 1 4 5 to 4 to 4minor (Bb minor) to 5. (4th minor chord is Bb minor. 3rd note in Bb minor is Db. I see the note played by the band is F. The Bb minor chord on the staff has three notes: Bb, Db and F. Same notes on the guitar. Looks like you’ve played this thing before.
So most of the song is 1 4 5. Paying attention to the rhythm
