      Johnny,
I am performing Gary U.S. Bonds’ New Orleans next week and can’t get the solo…or improvise something new to the beat. I am able to play the verse/chorus well. The band is playing it in C…I am on Baritone so my transcription that sounds good is a one time rise of E, F#,G# Then the pattern of AA,EE next rise of A,B,C# high DD then AA This all sounds great, when the solo comes I can get the first two notes and the rest is just wrong. Any lick ideas or a particular scale to switch to? Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqY6KPmClig
      many thanks

OK you lost me a little… the youtube version is in D so you’d be in B on your bari.
If your band is playing their version in C, you will play in A.
This is just the major pentatonic scale for solong (1,2,3,5,6) can add a flat 7th too.

Thanks, The singer wanted it in C. I’ve tried to tell him it is more of a shout with emotion, but he thinks otherwise.
