      ya no kidding…R&B stands for rhythme and blues which is what it used to be. it’s pretty far removed in what they call R&B today.
      the other alto player at the top of my list is Edgar Winter. he also approaches the alto much like a tenor in the style and sound he gets out of it. by that I mean a bit raunchier and growling, like Bostic.

        This is a great example of that. Perhaps you could do an alto Harlem Nocturne to match that Johnny? The advice I’ve always heard is to treat the instruments separately as they play differently, but Bostic and Winter seems to play the alto the same way and it’s way cooler….to me anyway.
