Hey Mike nice one. Why you have that thing on horn in front of mic?

So with this you hear how your sax sounds? I usually play against wall when i wanna check my sound, but maybe i could also buy this thing.

Simon this does what the wall does only you can hear your sound clearer.

Thanks Simon, yes it’s a sax deflector made by Jazzlabs. I tried one out at the NAMM show, it does a good job of letting you hear your sax. This was the first time I tried it in a live performance, worked fine until the 2nd set when the volume knobs on all the electric instruments magically went up… I ended up taking it off and having the sound guy pump up the monitor volume in front of me so I could hear. So, I wouldn’t recommend it if you play in a loud band, but for band where the sax doesn’t need to be mic’d it works pretty well, also works great at practices!
