Soul Twist Saxophone Music

Soul Twist was a saxophone song released by King Curtis in 1962 and made it to the top 40 R&B charts. Not bad for a saxophone instrumental! It was from a time when the Twist was very popular and several of the song titles from the album had the word “twist” in them.

There is a lick used in this version which is taken from King Curtis and was the lick that inspired the tune Yakety Sax. Do you recognize it?

This version is in the same key as the King Curtis recording which is E major. This puts the Bb saxophone chart in F# and the Eb sax chart in C#.
