The LA saxophone is an intermediate sax. They are well known for really nice finishes and colors. For the price I would rather get a Yamaha. Maybe it doesn't look as nice but are better made and sound better.

A new Yamaha student-intermediate will cost a little more than an LA new sax but if you get a used Yamaha you'll get a better deal I think. If you have read any of my reviews you will know that I own Selmers but I have very high regards for Yamaha's as my 2nd choice.

I would buy a crazy-wild looking LA sax if I wanted to play it on the beach for fun and make people look at it!… but NOT for the recording studio.
