ya sure, when you play it and it doesn’t sound good it’s because you’re not giving what it needs. This is usually a lack of air and embouchure support. these are the 2 things you need to work on and develop.
As for a spit valve, no. only brass instruments need them because those players’ embouchure produce spit. it’s a totally different one for woodwinds. we occasionally will find a bit of spit build up on the reed which we can just remove and wiped it off.
