micheal – lol
i must confess i’m not a jazz freak myself!
You want to put yourself in a
jazz players shoes & see the
technical stuff they have to
learn. Its a shame they weren’t
doing any improvisation, lots
of jazz sheets are littered with
chords for you to improvise on.
Trouble with jazz stuff is you have to learn to play it from
sheet music first to get to
playing it properly.
I can play fly me to the moon dead easy, but its far too difficult for me to play it jazz style – probably a couple of years from now.
A lot of jazz improvisation – i don’t understand it & sounds like
its from another planet!
Jazz piano sounds more interesting to me than jazz sax playing, if its played fast – not the send me to sleep jazz… lol
But yeah – good for you for listening to other styles – this is one way to improve improvisation – at the end of the day all you’re doing is pinching little things off other people & incorporating it in your own playing! but better if you can be creative and come up with your own!
