Selmar have bought out a new range of
sax’s at half their normal price to cater more
for first timers – similar to the price of a pro-yamaha
model.
They must be having stiff competion from
other manufacturers!!
yes, I’ve ran across a site or 2 after searching a while back. you can always find a vintage selmer but cheap? no.
my local repair shop here always has a few in their showcase but they tell me more people are buying newer horns like the Trevor James and Yamaha because they do come close and the price is a lot lower.
Keep looking………..
I just made an agreement on Saturday, to buy a used Selmer Bundy II (with a Case, A cleaning kit, a new mouthpiece and cap, and a decent strap, with a one year Warranty) for $500.00. It is coming from a Saxophone Instrument store run and owned by a Saxophone player/Technician. He is replacing the pads, oiling it, cleaning it, adjusting it, etc… The plus side of this is the relationship I am building with him, for any future purchases or repairs.
I highly recommend looking in your local shops similar to this one (not Guitar Center or Sam Ash places; real “Woodwind” shops). There were lots of brands on the walls, and I’ll bet that any “shop” worth its salt, could FIND you the horn you want, if they didn’t have one on the wall.
