yes backing up is the way… although, as I work on upgrading certain things on this site, there will be a modification to the purchase process;
still goes through Paypal as normal but the system will send you an email with your download link along with all your purchase info and details. This means that you now have the download link to get your item today or whenever. This may not sound like a big thing but for me it is since quite a few people miss out on getting directed to their download page so they either make a claim through paypal or email me, or post a message in the forum saying they didn’t receive their download link. This is of course is the proper thing to do because regardless of the reason, the bottom line is they haven’t been able to download the product. With this new system in place I think this constant issue will be resolved, meaning less hassles for both of us!March 2, 2015 at 11:39 am #13694I’ve never had any problems downloading anything I buy…there’s a 10-second period to wait and be re-directed to the download link and I think most look at it and think that there’s no download or something because of that 10-second wait period. But I would imagine that is a headache for you to deal with. Not sure what your personal take is on the following–but what about if someone buys one of your songs/premium lessons, passes on that link that they will get in their e-mail to anyone they want to, and other people they know are now getting your backing tracks/lessons without paying a dime for it?
March 2, 2015 at 12:01 pm #13695That’s a good point. I’m still learning about it as I set it up but I believe there are certain safe-gaurds in place. One thing I do know is that the number of times a person can download can be adjusted by me. So, let’s say I allow 2 downloads so you will have a 2nd chance to get it if you do lose it due to a situation like what you went through. You’d be able to get it again but not if you were to let someone else use your download link.

just to throw in my 3 pence worth!
i’ve burned out a brand new Laptop roughly every 2 years in the last 10 years!
From screens dying to tranformers going on fire inside!
Depends on how hard you work them!
so yeah – backup as often as you can!As per buying Johnny’s tracks – i’ve bought everyone from when i was registered as sxpoe unitil
i re-registered as sxpoet! Never had any problem downloading.The problem with technology now – is anyone can make copies and dish them round if
they want to take the risk. Theres still no fool proof way of preventing it.March 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm #13698Those are very good ideas Johnny–you would have to put a limit on the number of downloads because you’ll loose $ if you don’t. Over the course of the last year there have been other folks hear a track of yours or something that I have on my files and want it; I direct them to your site so that they can buy it. If I know the person and they didn’t have a card/paypal account, I bought it for them but they paid me for it. That happened with “Samba Pa Ti” while I was in N.M.. But the point being is that you get your money v.s just giving those things to them; I didn’t want you loosing $. With your help in recovering my lost files, I have all of your songs/backing tracks; so if you ever notice a transaction on your account of something that I bought it is because someone else wanted it but they didn’t have a card/paypal as mentioned…I tease them to get off their “lazy butt” and go get one LOL
Since learning the Saxophone I’ve made some great friends here in the Music Community in the South—NOT just the Saxophone only, most of them play other instruments; but that’s good too! 🙂 They’ve given me some fantastic leads to some streets in New Orleans and Nashville where it’s common place to go out and play in the public and folks there LOVE to see it. just for the fun of it and I plan on that in time and will definately make a blog video of it–nice way to get a “mini” vacation and have some fun; have always wanted to do it just for the fun/experience. You can go to youtube and probably find some videos of folks playing various instruments on those very street names that have been given to me. There’s a few good places in Memphis too. I’ve been asked twice to join a band who was looking for a Sax player and I said “not yet” because I want to get a really good grip on Improvising first; we still stay in contact though. One of those bands does like 3 gigs a week, sometimes out-of-state. I talked to the lead singer and said that they”canned” their Sax player because he wanted to “run the show” wanting to solo all the time. Their lead singer told me that he loves killing sax solos, but said their Sax player “took it one step too far” so it was “happy trails.”
SXPOET: That’s CRAZY to burn out brand new labtops every 2 years! How do you manage to pull that one off? LOL That’s crazy. You better make sure you have a “backup” in terms of a savings account at that rate!
