I did better this time by tapping my foot on all the down beats. I can’t hear the down beats but I might feel the down beat with a foot down beat

80 bpm I can do with a metronome ….bam bam bambabam..Something like that. Patting my foot seems to work better e.g. patting my foot to the down beats of “Save The Last dance” seems to get me closer to the backing track down beats.

One more thing about using a metronome. My music reading is very cognitive, too cognitive. I have to play the notes/music without thinking about it. Dancing puts you into the music so I stomp my heal or pat my foot. I don’t dance but I can get my leg into the music on the down beats

There is a drum beat pattern to practice with in the Premium section under
“Theory” where the music reading lessons are….although you don’;t need to be able to play a drum beat every musician should be able to listen to one and follow along. Knowing of course where in the bar you are within the beat. Check it out, there is a video there explaining how to do it, I think it will help.
