ya, probably one of thew toughest ones in the collection along with Urgent because you need to nail a f couple real high notes.

Hi jake thank you for your feed back, yes its a cool solo for sure. Nice one Johhny!I have been working on the Altissimo a fair bit of late-Chromatic scales but when you get into some licks and makes more sense and starts to come together. It took me a while to learn this solo-still working on it actually. For me 2 bars at a time using Audacity and slowing it down until I have got it .Enjoy your practice.

Thank you again Johhny for the inspiration. I can definitely relate to your playing and vibe. Keeps me motivated and helps me to enjoy my practicing. Going to give pick up the piece a road test at a gig this weekend. Marsh

Hi well done! I’ve been doing the pick up the pieces song as well but can’t do the altissimo notes yet. Did you go through the altissimo course? I cannot for the life of me do the 3rd overtone. Been at it for over a month now every day. Can sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10 times) hit it. I cheat by using the octave key to get it in my minds eye … then sometimes I can get it without the octave key … but even then it’s difficult. How long did it take you ?!

only a month? that’s nothing! don’t you dare give up….I feel a breakthrough coming your way at some point.
I really can’t remember how long I tackled what you’re going through because it was so long ago but I do remember
sweating on different things for months on end…..that’s the way it goes on this beast we play. hang in there!!!

think about recording yourself and I’ll have a listen, see if there’s anything I can advise you on.

Definitely takes longer than a month for sure. I reckon its taken me 3 months-dont rush it. I always start my practice with long tones, particularly up and altisimmo register Chromatically. All of a sudden it will start to take place. Its always great to have a solo like this to work on the high notes. Down load Johnnys solo convert the you tube link to an audio link then up load into Audacity so you can pick segments, slow them down and repeat them over and over and over! There is no short cut for sure. Audacity is a free program and is brilliant to assist in leaning solos.
