Thanks Johnny – good advice on the hands, will try to keep that in mind when playing. My problem with the hands is pressing the keys down to hard, so trying to undo a bad habit and touch them lightly instead.
The reason why the ‘Drunken Sailor’ sounds good, is because i love that song,
which is half the battle – must be the half Irish marching blood in me!
Went across to Ireland last year, and discovered i had 2 relatives higher up the family tree that were piano music teachers.
In their day you got a rap across the knuckles if you made a mistake.
I remember when i was very young, staying at one of my Irish Aunt’s house.
All the relations came round and sang songs around the piano – you don’t see that a lot now-a-days! lol
