I’ve been playing around with some Dixieland like “Tiger Rag” and others. Tiger Rag comes with 260 BPM and most other Dixieland is very fast. Not to worry. I just discovered that with Garage Band I can slow the tempo. So I slowed the tempo from 260 BPM to around 76 BPM and now maybe Tiger Rag is possible. See ya on the next uploads
August 13, 2016 at 6:39 pm #39618William, ya I guess the Bill Bailey and When the Saints tunes are in that vein and they’re at a pretty high tempo.
if you want to check it then listen to a very cool version of Bill Bailey as recorded by Bobby Darin cause I took his tempo and groove for my version.
@Dazza, putting those 10 titles in a set is exactly how I approached the selections…
you have a little bit of this and that with some traditional classics with some favorite pop and rock
all mixed in… this makes for a very nice and well rounded set weather you’re playing in a restaurant/lounge or for a room with family and friends!August 13, 2016 at 7:12 pm #39620Hi Johnny, I just checked out Bobby Darin’s Bill Bailey on YouTube. I can handle it. I might want to slow it down a bit with Garage Band’s Tempo Changer now that I know how. Rock on.
August 14, 2016 at 10:40 am #39636it is a fast tempo but I’m notating it at regular speed not double time so at least it’s easier to read this way
I’m sure you’ll have no problem with it!August 15, 2016 at 11:45 am #39677Nice version of Pretty Woman Johnny. Popular song and seems an easy one to play. Can’t wait for release!
August 15, 2016 at 11:55 am #39678PS: Is that that dastardly G altissimo at the end?!
August 15, 2016 at 8:23 pm #39682No…lucky you! it’s an F#
August 17, 2016 at 4:13 pm #39749Also playing around with “I Heard it through the Grapevine”. Blowing the Head part and working on some improve and solos for “I Heard it through the grapevine; it’s in E minor, one sharp. Good exercise in going from Middle E to to low E to low B back to E and on. Catch you all on the Grapevine. Rock on.

Any chance of some 12 bar blues in the future. I think some slow blues would be beneficial because at least there is some structure there, which can make it a bit easier for us newbies to throw in some articulations and improvise.

William, King Curtis recorded a version of that tune and I’ve had it on my list for a while! -
