Most of my tracks I play all the instruments and record onto my computer. There are some live drums I use that were done by my drummer on different sessions and I import those and edit them to fit whatever I need them for. So, it’s really a mixture of things but the main thing I focus on is having them all played by a human so the end result is more that than those sequenced, machine sounding ones that everything uses MIDI, so it’s all more robotic.
No wonder why your tracks sound so much better than Karaoke–that’s a good way of putting it that they sound robotic; I hadn’t thought about that word; but now that you mention it; that word really clicks. So you play other instruments besides the Saxophone? I know you’ve done some lessons on youtube with the keyboard and some blues scales–those really helped me out a lot–but I didn’t know you played other instruments. What other instruments do you play? Besides using a live drummer, do you have a live trumpet player that you use for your backing tracks? I was thinking how cool “Moonlight Serenade” would sound on the Saxophone, even though much of it is played with the trumpet and clarinet. The Saxophone would sound great in place of the clarinet, very popular song of the Glenn Miller band too!
