REEDS have FAR Too much impact on sound, major pita: I like fiberreeds

and a BIG thanks to Johnny for turning me on to them; if he hadnt I wouldnt be playing them … much better than cane plus you dont haveto get it wet so good for instantly – playing my saxes a Huge benefit imo

Hi Ken, I keep two reeds in their protective slides, inside a plastic effevescent tablet tube. At the bottom of the tube is a sponge plug which has been dampened with listerine. This keeps the reeds moist, ready for playing and not too wet; as the cane does not come into contact with the sponge. I considered buying a synthetic reed but for us in South Africa the synthetics cost as much as a box of 12 Vandoren reeds. A cane reed lasts me six months or more, so I really can’t justify the purchase.
