firing rockets off the surface of the earth is a complete utter waste of energy.
If those rockets were fired from a silo beneath the earths surface, all that lost energy (got to be at least 75% wasted) would launch a rocket far faster and waste less than 50% of the fuel to get lift off.
If it’s to dangerous to have an underground silo, then build one above the earths surface.
The current status of getting something airborne with an explosive mix of gasses is far to antiquated of a method. There must be another far efficient and cheaper way of working against the earths magnet field.
