It does sound very melancholy. I discovered this cheeky tune today.
There’s even a version for church!
Here’s the sheet music for the song Michael.
Written by Jackie Gleason…. here’s a tenor version, live, from Sax Gordon.
@ Jeff–thanks for the links, much appreciated 🙂
I love Sax Gordon’s playing, talk about fantastic to say the least 🙂 His playing is also a great example that you don’t have to have a metal MP to have a big tone, just depends because were all so different from each other. Great stuff Bill, thanks for sharing. That is one song I wish that Johnny would make available to buy here on his site 🙂
Thanks Jeff, I put the music in a folder
Michael, Gordon used to play a Link STM #9 iirc and #5 reeds. He switched to an RPC B a few years back. Hoping to hear him some day in person, but he mostly plays in Europe and near Boston when he is in the US.
Hi Bill
So the first MP an Otto Link Super tone Master #9 but I don’t know what iirc stands for?

And RPC B as on this website?
Check out the three Tenor sound samples, very cool!
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly. 😉
and I think its the B RPC (with the baffle, but not sure. Given his playing style and background (with the Link) it might be the other model.
saxmpc.com is the right sight. Ron Cohelo.
