“Peter Gunn”
Saxophone Music and Backing Track

(written by Henri Mancini)

Video version by Johnny Ferreira as inspired by the rockin’ Duane Eddy version:

Peter Gunn Saxophone Music

If you like dirty rockin’ sax… here ya go!

Probably the coolest TV theme of all time – especially if you’re a sax fan! Originally written by Henri Mancini for the Peter Gunn TV show. This is NOT like Mancini’s version, this version got it’s inspiration from the one recorded by 50’s rock & roll guitarist Duane Eddy with Steve Douglas on tenor sax. This is how a rock & roll sax is supposed to sound like, dirty and growly.

The chart available here for download contains the entire melody and solo section written out note-for-note. So you can learn it that way or just make up your own solos by experimenting over the groovin track which simply plays the same riff on the one chord all the way through.

Song Key

This version is in the key of F minor concert. This makes it G minor for the Bb saxophone chart and D minor for the Eb saxes.
