Hey guys, well I got home a few days ago and am starting to check out some of the footage we got from the recent tour. I was only able to get side-stage stuff and hopefully will have enough to turn into detailed lessons for those wanting to learn what and how to play in a band etc.
The band sound in general is pretty bad because of the camera position but the idea here was to be able to hear the sax up front.
The song below will give you a taste of what I’m talking about:

Awesome video, song and sax playing. Looked like a lot of fun there. I love the blue suit. That was really cool looking. If you ever come to Omaha, Nebraska let me know. I would love to see you live.

          Johnny,

Also wanted to say I think your idea for new lessons is great. I will definitely get that lesson package like I have the Killer Blues, Altissimo and your Improvisation course. Thank you for creating these great lessons.

Love it!!! 🙂 It sure looks like you guys had great fun too. It would most definately be a huge help to make some lessons on playing with a band. I’ve been with the great folks with the Blues Society since around late September and I’ve learned so much being around live players, but there’s still so much I just don’t know; so anything you can do along these lines Johnny would be fantastic. On a side note, I got word the other day that coming this year they’re going to let me start to do lead solo sections…I’m SUPER excited about it to say the least; here comes the Altissimo and they know it (and just about expect it from me now) 🙂 My friend Nathan who you saw in the video collab I posted a couple of weeks ago is working on some stuff with his guitar, specifically to highlight the Sax, how about that? For inspiration sake, I shared some videos of the days with you playing with Colin James where you and him played back and forth; he loved it and said he would “get right on it” One of the videos he liked in particular was a what Collin called taking “a Boogie Twist” and it featured you on the Sax, can’t think of the exact name of the song right now. On a side note Johnny, this song you guys did live would also make a fantastic Sax Instrumental to buy from you here on your site 🙂 My parents used to listen to that song all the time at home.
JOHN: How’s the Altissimo course and Killer Blues coming along for you? I’ve been in Killer blues for about 13 months now LOL Just been taking it all in to really makes sure I’ve made this stuff my own. My goal is to start Johnny’s new Major Scale course coming now sometime in Spring around May-June, I’m confident I’ll meet that goal 🙂

no Wayne didn’t get dizzy on the spinning but I have gotten dizzy during hard blowing solos.
Chantilly Lace is in Eb and yes, only 3 chords (1 4 5)

Great song, great playing! I just listened to the original (by The Big Bopper, ~1958) – your sax part is much better, Johnny! I would very much like to practice this song – maybe you can organize a recording of that band with and without the sax part.
