Yes, I have been looking into that as well as King Curtis. Should get some of these out there over the little while as I can.
Thanks for the suggestions and interest!

G’day Johnny. Yes the only King Curtis playalong I saw was a version of ‘Tanya’. So there’s a gaping hole in the marketplace 🙂
        cheers, Mark.

Hi, Johnny! Slow and lyrical tracks for saxophone enough. “Hot Rod Special” – have catchy and very fun! I feel a strong disadvantage in such tracks. =((( If possible I ask for more similar tracks as – “Hot Rod Special”, “In The Mood”, “Yakety Sax”… I have in stock “Rock Around The Clock”, I can share notes and backing track. Thank you very much!

Hey Daniel, very nice of you… that’s actually one of the ones I’m putting together for my next batch of early rock and roll songs so I’m ok but thanks anyway.

                  Hey Johnny,
Really great to hear you’re going to do “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and the Comets!!! Sooooo Coooool 🙂 A saxophone version of that song ( I know the original version of the song has a short solo in it) has you and your Sax written all over it 🙂

I don’t know what other early rock songs your putting together/thinking of putting together right now, but I hear your style of playing the saxophone when I listen to “Hit the Road Jack” By Ray Charles and “Chain of Fools” by Arethra Frankin. Don’t know if those 2 songs would be worth your time financially to make available…… it’s just that the back tracks on Karaoke for these 2 songs are very, very lame and generic.–The local band instructor at the kids’ school, Mr. Baker, who is teaching me Music Theory every Monday has them and let me listen to them. The same holds true for Rock Around the Clock that he’s got. On the other hand, the one I sent you that he gave me, “Green Onions” sounds pretty close to the original. He’s got loads of backtracks that he uses in his class instruction that he says he uses to help teach his students various aspects of musical theory.

Ya those are great suggestions Micheal but what I mean by early rock and roll is songs from the 50’s. I’ve got several already picked out and am staring to work on them…you already know one of them but I like to keep it a bit of a secret!
I am very selective as there is certain criteria to make them really good for what we are doing here; type of music that lends itself well for us to play on the sax and comes off good at the same time…. some work ok, some work great and others just don’t work well at all. This is one reason I record each one myself so everyone can see/hear that they indeed do work…I don’t like to play ones that don’t.
These few rock songs may be part of the next song “series” but I will do single stuff as we go as well….I really want to increase the repertoire this year so you’ll see a lot more being made available for download then there was last year.

Cool—You must have been telepathic when you just did the love song from Billy Joel, as he’s is one of my wife’s favorite artist. Growing up, her Mom used to listen to something from Billy Joel just about every day. She saw your video of Just the Way You Are, got a huge smile and then just looked at me like “well?” Guess I have no choice now.
