This Series Includes 4 Giant Hits That Are Perfect For Saxophone:
1. And I Love Her
And I Love Her is a Lennon–McCartney composition written primarily by Paul McCartney. Recorded by the Beatles for their third album, A Hard Day’s Night which came out in the summer of 1964. A beautiful song which goes between a major key and it’s relative minor key and then modulates up to a new key just before the solo section. This adds a great musical effect.
Crying was written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson and was a big hit after it’s release in 1961. The influence for this version is from the 1987 version Orbison redid with KD Lang. It was ranked #69 on The Rolling Stones list of “The 500 Greatest Songs Of All-Time”.
3. Unchained Melody
Written in 1955 by Alex North Hy Zaret. The music was originally used as a theme for the prison film “Unchained”. There are more than 500 recorded versions in hundreds of different languages.
This version was inspired by The Righteous Brothers version released in July of 1965. It became a jukebox standard since it was heard in the movie Ghost in 1990.
4. Just The Way You Are
Written by Billy Joel and was included on his 1977 album, The Stranger. Won the 1979 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. This version was inspired by Joel’s original recording which featured the great jazz alto saxophonist Phil Woods.
