I overlaid a video of me acting like I am playing doing my best “Johnny moves.” Boy does that guy have the energy.
So I have the backtrack,
a sound track just me playing (listening with earphone) (recorded it on my Google Pixel Phone)
A video of me sort of pretending to play (since I can see the music and twist at the…[Read more]

Very good video. I like it. I encourage you to really get into the groove (timing) of the backtrack. The more you play and get comfortable with your songs, this will tighten up. Good job!

I like everything about it: he decorations, the videography, the song selections. Your sister does a great job on the piano. And most of all, I enjoy listening to you playing.

I like this song. You are really putting yourself into it.
The little riffs you put in at the end were very cool.
The recording levels sound good to me and you can even bring your part out even more.
Recording yourself and putting these things out there can make you feel a little nervous and hesitant. So lay it out there baby.…[Read more]

Robert Frederick started the topic I forgot My Ligature!!!!! in the forum Saxophone Tips 4 years, 3 months ago
I drove 45 minutes out into the country to play a Christmas party gig for a group of 60 people. I was setting up and when I opened my case, I realized that I had left my ligature setting on a table at my gig earlier that day. It was locked in a building over an hour away. So I had to improvise.
I asked my hostess if she had any rubber…[Read more]

I voted for Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. I have loved plying it at a variety of performances this December. Last night I hooked a few wires together and recorded it and made it into a Christmas Video with some family photos.

Thank you for the time to give me such thoughtful and honest feedback. It is something I appreciate for being in on this forum.
When I have played at house parties, sometimes for 2 to 3 hours of background music, I just have to go from one song to the next, really without much feedback, except I get paid and the lady that pays me is…[Read more]

Thank you so much. I appreciate your thoughts on the vibrato. Listening to it again, I see what you mean.
One reason I play the sax (an not the violin), is when I am out of tune it can sometimes be cool even if unintentional, and my pitch sensitivity is not very robust.

Hello Everyone
I started playing tenor sax in 4th grade in 1968. I played through grade school and High School Jazz and Marching Bands. Bought a Selmer Mark VII in 1976 and played at Purdue in their student Jazz Bands for four years and the Symphonic Band (double Bb Contra Bass Clarinet, i.e. kitchen plumbing). Picked sax back up from time to…[Read more]

I re-did the previous soundtrack (same original file) and put on YouTube with some photos (my Cardiac Rehab Nurses). The lead sounds a little louder on this playback
