after a lot of research, I bought and am thrilled with this setup for home recording:

      Audiotechnica ATPro35 instrument mic:

Focusrite Scarlett Solo Compact USB Audio Interface
      http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MTXU2DG

input to laptop running this inexpensive software that works great:

      Sony Soundforge 10
      http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Sound-Forge-Audio-Studio/dp/B008MIMIYI
(adobe audition is better, but costs a lot)

very sensitive, works well. for music vids, I then use sony vegas software for fx/video edits etc

looks like you’re on the right track and should do you well Ken. let us know how it all works out. although not sure I;’d go for a clip on mic for home recording….you can get a better quality than that I think.

good point; agree… my broadcast mic I do w/webinars (singers like it too) is my ‘elvis’ Shure Super 55′, I may record sax vids with that:

besides it looks cool 🙂 will test w/sax
