hi there, im new to this. i have always wanted to play the saxophone since listening to kenny g, so a week ago i bought a soprano, i am working on my mouth and face muscles, after a few days i am finding i can go straight on and play but at the moment i can hear my breath as the tune comes out, also do you breath from the lower lip or the top, i am so excited and practice 2-3 hours a day, thank you for letting share this with you, i am on a mission as i was diagnosed with cancer 4 and half years ago, the max they gave me was 5 years, i will not be beaten !!!! and i will learn with passion to express myself through my playing

Hi and welcome guys… good for you Julie!
You don't really breathe thru your lower or upper lip. Possibly let air sneak in thru the sides as in a smiling possition if anything, but you should keep your embouchure intact at this stage and breathe thru your nose for the most part.
