      Johnny,
When you have a bit of free time do you think you could help me out setting up a recording system? I can't afford the top of the line equipment but still want something cheaper with decent quality. I have a laptop but it's not a Mac. What would your recommendations be for the following:
      1 Microphone
      Amp
      8 channel Mixer
      Monitors

Or better yet, what would you recommend? I have a some good music with backing tracks and would like to hear myself. My tip book strongly suggests that a person do this. I also have a buddy that plays electric guitar and hes itching to get together.

If and when you get the time.

      Thanks
      Dave T

Well, I have several thoughts on this as I have my own home studio as well, but I also spent a lot of time reviewing gear on this website I have here:

Take a look at some of the sections you are interested in, there are good and inexpensive mics and multi-track records etc. These days you really don't have to spend a lot.

Feel free to ask about some specifics after you have a browse-thru.
        cheers

yes, playing with your guitar friend would be a great idea!
