Johnny after replaying and re-watching lesson 1 video several times, combined with plsying the
simple scale in D (on alto) to
the backing track after a few
days of doing this, theres an
odd sensation for me, in that i
get the feeling when playing it,
all the notes feel drawn towards
one note in the tune – ie get the
feeling of being stretched away from one particular note that pulls all the notes toward it ?

When you played the Gm7 chord followed by the Fmaj7 on the
keyboard it also feels like the
Gm7 chord is returning to the Fmaj?

It might be a simple tune, but it has brought out some interesting
      feelings for me!

there are 2 important notes in the G minor 7 that want to resolve: the F down a semi tone to E, and the Bb down to A. so yes, not surprised about your feelings on this.

Thanks – i read comments in the past from people who improvise,
and they’ve said similar things in
          their improvising that you should
be able to feel similar things.

I’ve tried before but with no luck in the past to feel what they were
          tslking about, but after spending
a couple of days on your lesson 1
exercise – a light bulb came on!

I can’t believe it just when i’m not looking for it now i notice it!
now i can understand how they claim they can use that to determine what scale a song is
          written in!
