Do your cheeks play a role in a proper embouchure? If they look like they’re “blowing” like a trumpet player, does that indicate your blowing too much into the sax with your throat rather than you’re diaphram? I’ve practice just about every day the exercise of hitting long notes, and I’m able to hold a note at long, steady pace, but my cheeks looked almost like a trumpet player.

Yes the cheeks are part of the embouchure. I would say there’s no need to do that, but then I think of Dizzy Gillespie.
Rules can be broken but for sax playing I would try and get rid of the big puffy cheeks.

Thanks Johnny–I was noticing my cheeks puff out a little, but noticed that good Sax players generally don’t do that. It’s a work in progress 🙂
