I put my sax on its stand while I went to answer the door. When I came back, it had fallen over.
There is a dent on the right underside of the neck.

Is this just a cosmetic problem or will it affect playability in any way?

Any decent dent in the neck can effect your sound. You’ll have to judge as it depends on how big the dent is.
Does it sound and feel the same as before?

The dent is flattened, not really dented in. It’s about 3/4″ long by 1/4″ wide. It starts just past that long narrow support piece in the bottom crook of the neck and extends 3/4″ from there toward the mouthpiece.

I’m too new at this to tell if my sound has changed. Maybe in a few more days I’ll know if it sounds right or not.

Not looking to spend around $350 for a new neck this soon.

          Thanks for your reply.

you can play it for a while till you are getting some consistant sounds and then take it to a shop and try it with another neck, you’ll know then if the new neck makes any difference or not. Hopefully not!
