        while I appreciate the history he went into the bottom line I think is simply that the saxophone was invented too late.
        It was only invented in the 1840’s. By then, the two main periods of classical music had already passed; the Baroque and Classical periods. Even the Romantic period started well before the invention of the sax.
        so it makes perfect sense that it was not included, except for the few pieces (or composers) who actually wrote for it.
