I did better this time by tapping my foot on all the down beats. I can’t hear the down beats but I might feel the down beat with a foot down beat

For years I’ve been trying to keep up with a backing track. I have “Save The Last Dance For Me” in my GarageBand along with 100’s of other backing tracks and I can’t play along with any of the backing tracks.

Johnny transcribed “Even Now” for me. One of Nana Mouskouri’s songs. It’s in the key of B major for the tenor sax. So I played around with it for a while.Today I used my 12 string Martin to play an accompaniment. Sax in B major and guitar in “A” major. I recorded both instruments on GarageBand. I’ll work on it during the shut in.

Good one Jake. I followed you in the music humming most of the lyrics as you played the musical notes. I need lyrics and in a way you provided the lyrics in your music. The F# key is not hard to play. So today will be a Beach Boy day. Thanks for the video

Scott I was sight reading “Lilly Was Here” transposing the notes to E minor (key signature G major) and E minor for tenor sax would be easier to play

Scott,
I have the music to “Lily Was Here” key signature A major for tenor or F# minor.Notes like high F# I can’t get to fast enough. The backing track in in concert E Minor. Lowering it to E minor for tenor might make it easier to play. That would put the concert backing track in D minor. Like Johnny said, It’s a tough one but a good one -

Thanks Johnny. Playing “Me and Bobby McGee” with a medium onyx reed” is real easy as long as Bobby sings the blues

Today I switch my Onyx medium soft reed to a medium Onyx reed and the low C was a easier to blow. Why was a stiffer reed more easy to blow. Mouthpiece was my 7* Fibercarbon Guardala MBII FatBoy

Often when I try to blow low C I get that honky sound. I follow Johnny’s teeth, bottom lip embouchure lesson but no cigar, just a honky sound

I first heard the Righteous Brother in 1997 while I was working in the Hood. Those Blue Eyed Soul Brothers singing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”. I like that lst sax note, that low C note. Johnny plays that low C with a lot of fuzz and I’m trying to put some fuzz buzz in my low C. Some time I hit it off right. I’m using a medium soft onyx…[Read more]

Getting that buzz in the sound. Same mouthpiece and reed. Fiber carbon Onyx. Medium. I put the mic right in front of the horn bell. I turned the interface gain off. I used the gain on my ribbon preamp. I tied my ribbon mic onto a reflector shield and tied it to the horn in front of the bell. That way I could move the horn around as I read the…[Read more]
