Johnny,
Question about reading the music on “you’ve Got a Friend”, measure 4, 5 and 6′ Measure 5 and 6; notes E sloured to E in 6 and next note is dotted quarter noe D’ 8th note E is hit followed by dotted quarter note D. All through the sheet music the slur is discounted . Measures 10 and 11 notes D is slureed but you hit both Ds in 10 and 11.…[Read more] -

I usually don’t miss a song when Johnny posts music but I missed Unchained Melody. It must have been long ago so I grabbed it. Cheerio

Carbon Onyx reeds have always been the best for me. Copper reeds too. I have drawers full of varius cane reeds and other synthetic reeds. Onyx and copper are the best for me. My favorite mouth piece today is the MB Fatboy

Did Johnny ever record “It’s The Same Old Song?” I can’t find it in my Files. I have it in my Bb book in the key of D

My set up today.
A long long time ago I bought a silver goose neck for my tenor. Yesterday I put the silver goose neck on the horn. Sound was a lot better. My practice songs this week are “Always On My Mind”. Practice notes are low C# low B. I’m using my MB Fatboy and a ligature that came with one of the MB mouth pieces. I think Johnny blows…[Read more] -

1979 I bought a used Conn tenor in a going out of business store. I knew nothing about saxophones. There was a key for every note. Good idea.10 years later i bought a Selmer Paris. I learned to read music in Jazz camp and here we are blowing “Always on my Mind’ with Mordents

So James bond is still in the works. Willie Nelson had a birthday party on PBS last night, so it’s on the road again with Willie.

I’m working on some music from James Bond. Today it’s “All Time High” by Rita Cooledge. Music written by John Barry. Sheet music starts in key of “F” major and about measure 17 or so it switches to the key of “D” major. The background music starts in Eb and switches to “C” major.

“Tears In Heaven”
Eric Clapton”s music is in A major. That puts the Tenor Sax in B major. 5 sharps Easy to play. B, C#, D#. E, F#, G#, A#, B. Try it. You’ll like it.

Here in Taos New Mexico the new Starbucks burned down for the second time. “Tears in Heaven” would be a good one for the group
