Johnny,
We know the suck-pop is not the end all test for how well the reed sits on the mouthpiece table. Using an onyx medium reed on my theo juanne 7* slant sig 2 I can always get a suck pop. On my 7* fiber carbon fat boy I got no suck pop using the same reed. Using my reed Geek I noticed a ridge on my fiber carbon fat boy so one swipe down…[Read more] -

I’ve been playing the new song, “The Girl From Ipanema. I have this song in my Stan Getz book. The transcriber has it in E flat. In the Stan Getz book there are a lot of side key D’s without the octave key, only middle D and a side E flat. I prefer your version in the key of G. Thanks for the music

Correction: “Joy to The World” is actually in D major concert. For tenor sax I have it in E major

Every day I practice going from low Bb to middle Bb to the F above middle Bb. I do this without moving my fingers. I can go from low Bb to middle Bb but I can’t get a firm F. Only a weak F. I’m also working on “Joy To The World” by Three Dog Night. “Jeremiah was a bull-frog…Was a good friend of mine”. In the key of E major.

Good Morning sxpoet. I might have a leak some where in the lower keys. I take my sax to the repair man Sunday afternoon. Only one repair person in the Daytona Beach Florida area. He has a one room shack behind his prefab hone in which he repairs horns. He’s busy playing on the road when he’s not working on horns.

I agree with Rod. No apparent fix. According to my recent down loads under Check out only “What’d I say” appeared. I went to the repertoire on the premium channel where I first got the sheet music and downloaded it again and bar 25 was the same as my first download.

Johnny,
I’m Working on “Lily Was Here”. It’s in the key of F# minor. I concluded that from the chords in the Sheet music. First chord is F# minor. Key signature is A major, three sharps. Looking at the mode chart you made F# is the first note of the Aeolian Mode for the key of A major. My thinking is that the F# minor mode takes its scale…[Read more] -

I can do the fork High F and F#. I’ll keep practicing those notes e.g. the notes in the frame C# high E fork F# down to C natural B, A, middle F#. I do it til I can run it on down smoothly. It’s a two bar run taken from “Lily Was Here” which is a 12 bar blues I think
