I can play the first 8 bars plus the intro bar – rest rest F Db…etc. easy. I have the long version backing track and I’ll get on it tomorrow with a steady rocking riff or riffs

I have a shorter backing track so I won’t have think too much now, just play without thinking; just blow what I know before I blow.

I was improvising along Shot Gun trying to keep up with the backing track, long backing track. I missed most of the notes i.e. blew a natural instead of a flat and vice versa. I pulled out my Theo Wanne Slant Sig 2 7* and put on an Onyx Carbon medium soft reed and away we went. Even the medium Onyx Carbon reed blows. I rather use the medium soft onyx carbon reed for now. Shot Gun is coming along well.

To do an improve or riff I have to hum it, make a melody out of it, like “Shot gun Mamma, Kindly put yo shot gun down”. By the time I sort of get a riff together the music is way ahead of me. Well I’ve been blowing the 6th note, and the 5th note. and the one note. Using the octave key to add to the mix. Those notes, the 1st. the 6th, the 5th, and what ever comes next can be blown using the octave key as long as I blow those notes. So I think I’m making progress. Thanks Johnny

Ok, the second and third note is up and running. The 6 and the 5, so we have the 1, the 6, and the 5 to work with. Two more notes and we have a pentatonic. We’er moving on

Very interesting Jeff. I do have two large acoustic sound absorbing panels and a sound absorbing reflector shield where the microphone stands or hangs. I have a few old towels to hang over the panels. We’ll see how it goes. Time to practice “Shot Gun” and some other songs.

I have the music in the Key of Bb, Most of the music is in the upper range, not the altissimo, just the upper range and the music sounds bluesy

Reading 8th notes. A good exercise for reading 8th notes mixed in with quarter notes is “Sound of Silence” with the backing track. I posted Johnny’s backing track for “Sound of Silence” in my GarageBand and I play along the track keeping time. And about that One eyed cat peeping in a fish store sounds like a line from “Shake Rattle and Roll”.
