HEy Folks,
I just dove into the Legere reed world. I must agree with the plastic reed folks. Great to play with and never have to worry about removing the reed to soak in water. It is always ready to jam. I find they do not growl as well but I’m finding how to move them each time I play. I was playing Vandoren Jazz 2.5 on a Otto Link NY 5 and moved to a Charlie Andrew (rare m/p) #8 with Legere 2 and exploded with sound. Furthermore, if you can find a Charlie Andrew m/p is it worth, paid only 109 bucks on eBay.
I just purchased a Charlie Andrew BBQ m/p……all I can say is WOW. What a ease and projection. Got it on eBay. They are rare and if can pick one up, it will the best $100 your spent.
Does sanding a seed to get a smooth top feel provide a better sounding reed?
I did a little experimenting with my Otto Link NY. I wasn’t sure how pleased I was. As you see I tried the Guardala MB II, I think most of the problem with it was the ligature that came with it didn’t fit with reeds and my existing Otto Link has a fitted ligature for the unique shape. Long and short, I placed a mouthpiece cushion on the Otto Link ligature plate that holds the reed and WOW what a more resonating sounds from OL MP all notes top to bottom.
Scarsax, may I ask why you pick aluminum over gold version..thx
I did buy it, the question is: After we download it and save to PC. How do we download it again when I’m on the road without my PC?
How would compare the Claude Lakley vs the Otto Link NY’s. the reason I ask, I do not live near good music stores and to travel 60 + miles is getting old…thanks again
I recently purchased a Guradala MB II MP and was not overly satisfied. My ottto link NY 5 gives that sound of old school sexy tenor sound. Does any one have experience with other Guardala MP’s to try??
Spent a hour plus looking for Winslow..it seems to be hard to find. However, another alternative is Saxxos, similar principle as to pressure point system. They from Germany and a bit difficult to purchase in North America.
Once again, I’ll take Johnny’s advise and look into Rover & Van’s as stated in the “tips” section.
Smmmooooth Saxing !!
Thanks again for your time !!
