$19 won’t even get you 30 minutes with an instructor.
Great deal!!!
I’ve been a part of other premium sites. Hopefully you will do some live online master class sessions in the future where you have your premium members play and talk about issues and give live advice while other member watch. So much learning for everyone!! -

THANKs for The feedback. I agree most videos can be confusing and not clear. I posted this one because it really does focus on in Intonation and the conversion that has come about because of Johnny’s comments. It may help others as I feel will help me. It really makes sense and cements the comments Johnny made about long tones and daily p…[Read more]

another thing i found out is when practicing long tones and such tuning ok but when it comes to a performance im flat. i really play hard and blow the horn when performing thus i need to push my mouthpiece in a little more. is there a way to practice performance play with a tuner?? hard to see the tuner dial that way. lol

I record the video on my phone and then use an app called video fx. Bunch of different things you can do to them.
Thanks for the replies. So what’s the best exercises for working on my intonation? I use a tuner and notes seem to be in tune. I know my Bb was a bit flat.
Long tones, octave exercises?? Thanks again -

Thanks for the replies guys. My local sax shop says I’m looking 400-500ish. So I look at it as an investment. But if it doesn’t need it then why pay it. It really does play well top to bottom. There are some minor thIngs that it’s going to need. Something to ponder for sure.
Thanks again. -

I have a Yamaha yts-61 tenor. I’ve noticed my c note isn’t playing right and I found one of the wire springs that hold the key was bent. I’ve adjusted it for now but gonna need to get it to the repair shop.
Is there a benefit in getting a total sax overhaul or should I just fix problems as they arise?? If I get it overhauled will it feel…[Read more] -
jake replied to the topic M Hemp Fiberreed vs. MS Onyx Fiberrreed? in the forum Reeds 8 years, 1 month ago
I did the same thing Keith. I got the M hemp reed and find it too stiff for me. I play fibracell 3 reeds on my tenor. I ordered the onxy to try out in a MS. I hope its not too much softer. I haven’t received it yet but when I do I can let you know if I have the same results you did.

So Johnny I’m thinking this song is in the key of D but when transposed to tenor I am in the key of E. So to bang out the 5 at the end of the phrasing I should be incorporating the B note. Am I thinking correctly?? Thanks for any input.

jake replied to the topic Wanderer in the forum Your Video 8 years, 4 months ago
What exactly do you mean by banging out the 5? I’d love to incorporate it into the song to improve it. I do play this song live quite a bit! Thanks for the help.

Wow, been awhile since I’ve seen this post. I do love my YTS-61. Way cheaper than a YTS-62 as well. Can’t compare the two as I haven’t played a 62. I still have my Hawk tenor and tried it out recently. WOW, no comparison. Love my Yamaha and the way it feels. But of course I have been playing in it for awhile now so I am very used to it.

Hey Mel, I played the java reds before changing to the fibracell. I did love them while playing them! I prefer the reds over the greens. A little softer and buzzier in my opinion.

I use the fibracell 3 on my tenor and 2.5 on my alto saxes. I love them. Gives me a nice little buzz and no prep work with them. Also I can get the altissimo easier than with traditional wood reeds. I tried ordering reeds from Johnny to try them out but the order was cancelled as they were out of stock. I love the synthetic reeds so I would…[Read more]

I have played both the red and green java reeds. In my experience the java reds tend to be softer than the greens and a little more buzzy sounding. I have preferred the red reeds versus the greens when I did use them. I have since changed reeds and now play synthetic fibracells on my tenor and alto. They also tend to be buzzy but that is the…[Read more]
